Greater Manchester Union Learning Clubs

Welcome to the Greater Manchester Union Learn website

The Union Learning Club is part of a wider project in Greater Manchester which aims to raise the awareness of Union Learning Representatives and their members about higher level skills and higher education opportunities in the workplace. The main target group are union members in Greater Manchester who have never previously studied at higher education level before. So, if you have been considering higher education, but thought that university just wasn't for you, then the Greater Manchester Union Learning Club offer may be just what you want. It gives you the opportunity to experience a taste of higher education without too much commitment in terms of study time, or financial outlay.

What does the Greater Manchester Union Learning Club Offer?

As part of the Greater Manchester Union Learning Club, The Open University, the University of Bolton, Manchester Metropolitan University and partners are offering a range of short courses.  Successful completion will give you 10 or more credit points that could be used towards a degree.

The Union Learning Club offer is open to union members living or working in Greater Manchester and the first 100 learners joining the scheme and registering for a course will also receive a £20.00 voucher.

  • Some of the courses require no entry qualifications.
  • Financial help may be available (depending on your income).
  • Detailed advice and guidance about the courses is supplied.
  • Extra study skills support is provided for union members if they need it.
  • You can get in touch with other union learners through the GM Union Learning Club website.
  • Members will receive a regular HE Bulletin, including advice on access to other HE courses in the area.
